About project Architect versus Designer

The profession of an architect and designer has become so close recently that assessing their mutual relation is similar to solving the problem of the “half empty, half full glass”. Withal, the role of both professions is different: the merits of architecture are building spaces, whereas design deals with utility things. To disclose the present state of both professions we asked two studios here – one architectural, one design – and watched their approach to interior work, i.e. a theme they have been competing so much about.

Architect versus Designer happening

exhibition is part of project Architect versus Designer

During the Design Days in Prague Designblok ?04 CCEA prepared a project Architect versus Designer. The exhibition searched an answer for recently often discussed question: if and how we can compare professions, they “compete“ with each other in many ways. How close are their relations? How are they connected? Do they respect each other? Do they induce or negate each other?

Architectonical atelier Vpřed and design studio Takako were asked by the curator Jana Kostelecká to design an interior, everyday store, whose look is mostly overlooked. We know many design stores with clothes, shoes, flowers, furniture or living accessories. However don?t we visit just the butchery more often?
