Converging Territories

Zájemci o projekt se musí přihlásit do 15. dubna 2010 prostřednictvím elektronické přihlášky, která je k dispozici zde a zaslat ji na adresu: secretariat@efap-fepa.eu a v kopii na cimbal@ccea.cz a vasourkova@ccea.cz.
Spolu s přihláškou bude zasláno:
- CV, kopie dokladů totožnosti a diplomu(ů)
- motivační dopis (max. 3000 znaků)
- Prezentace realizovaných/probíhajících a/nebo soutěžních projektů (max. 15 stran)
- Podepsanou plnou moc a bezplatné převedení práv na EFAP, pro internetové reklamní a publikační účely (Converging Territories leaflet)

Vybrané týmy získají grant v hodnotě 9000€ určený na pokrytí pracovních nákladů+ cestovní náklady, ubytování a diety. Maximální délka residenčního pobytu je 6 měsíců. Akce je určena pro praktikující architekty mající již realizované projekty, architekty účastnící se aktivně soutěží, autory knih a jiných publikací a organizátory workshopů.

Vnitřní hranice
Pražské centrum je proslulé malebnými domy všech stylů, křivolakými a okouzlujícími uličkami se silným geniem loci. Centrum je však uzavřeno často těžko překonatelnými hranicemi přispívajícími k budování jeho disneylandovského image. Historické jádro se pak jeví jako izolovaný, uzavřený a chráněný ostrov sloužící jako turistická atrakce odříznutá od zbytku města. Hranice nejsou pouze administrativní, často nabývají podoby fyzikých, těžko překonatelných překážek tvořených komunikacemi či jinými částmi infrastruktury, která je v této podobě nechtěným dědictvím minulosti. Otázka, kterou klademe zní, je možné změnit stávající situaci architektonickými zásahy? A jak můžeme změnit architekturu, infrastrukturu a veřejný prostor hraničních oblastí mezi centrem a sousedními čtvrtěmi. Předložené návrhy by měly řešit konkrétní pražskou situaci, ale současně by se však měly vztahovat k současnému obecnějšímu chápání veřejných prostor.

Shadowland
Současná ekonomická krize zanechala dědictví v podobě poloviny dokončených projektů, nezastavěných, špatně lokalizovaných pozemků a měst duchů, dostavěných, ale neobydlených. Vzniklý stav vyžaduje alternativní rozvojové přístupy a nebo stávající řešení přizpůsobená však změnám na trhu. Dublinským tématem je hledání alternativních způsobů nakládání s tímto dědictvím a obnovení holističtějšího, integrovanějšího, flexibilnějšího a k místu vázaného developmentu. Návrhy mají být zaměřené na sociální, environmentální i ekonomickou udržitelnost. Projekt bude lokalizován na území velkého Dublinu, především jeho hraničních a přilehlých oblastí.

Paříž
Pařížský 10. okrsek je Evropě otevřen díky dvěma vlakovým stanicím, Gare du Nord and Gare de l¹Est.Široce založená konference se budou brzy zabývat novým řešením tohoto území. Toto úzmí je místem, kde se střetávají pospíchající businessmani s lidmi společensky vyloučenými. Toto území široké tolerance bezpochyby zmizí s přestavbou území kolem stanic, které je zároveň začátkem bulváru Haussmannova stylu. Cíle, je restrukturalizovat automobilový provoz i pohyb chodců, přeměnit začátek bulvárů Magenta a Štrasbourg, přeměnit autobusové zastávky a vytvořit zelenou oblast v okolí Gare de l'Est. Stručně řečeno, tento plán bude skutečnou revolucí, kterou toto území prodělá v nejbližších letech. Účastníci budou spolupracovat s odborníky, uživateli,veřejnými činiteli, architekty, urbanisty a budou se účastnit veřejných diskusí. Projekt nabízí seznámení se skutečnými problémy obce. žadatel se nebude zabývat všemi problémy, ale definuje oblast svého zájmu.

Application will consist of the following elements:
- CV, copies of identification papers and diploma(s)
- A cover letter (3000 characters max.)
- A presentation of realized or in progress projects and/or submissions to competitions (15 pages maximum);
- A signed authorisation including the free transfer of rights to EFAP, for internet or paper advertisement and publishing purpose (Converging Territories leaflet).

Selected teams will receive a grant worth € 9000 to cover labor costs + travel, accommodation and subsistence costs.
The maximum length of residential stay is 6 months.
The event is designed for practicing architects, having already completed projects, architects are actively participating in competitions, authors of books and other publications and workshops organizers.

Prague
Inner limits
The city core of Prague is famous for its picturesque buildings of all styles, crooked streets and charming alleys, where you can discover and experience a unique genius loci. On the the other hand, the border of this historical area is very often hard to access and helps to build the Disneyland image of the city center. Historical core thus works as an isolated, conserved island, a tourist attraction cut off from the entire city. This separation is not mental, but it is very often followed by various physical obstacles, infrastructural corridors - the heritage of the past. Could this situation be changed by architectural interventions? How could we redefine architectural, infrastructural and public domains at the border between the core and its closest eighborhoods?
Proposals should use the Prague condition as a ground for solution, but at the same time they should focus on the contemporary understanding of the common spaces.

Dublin
Shadowland
The current economic crisis bequeathed a legacy of half finished projects, undeveloped lands in inappropriate locations and ghost estates, complete but unoccupied. Alternative development proposals are required or the same models tweaked to reflect reduced 'market expectations' will be trotted out as solutions. The Dublin proposal is to seek alternative options for dealing with this legacy and reset the paradigm of development in a way that is more holistic, integrated, flexible, local and intuitive. Proposals, that are focused as much on Social and Environmental as on Economic Sustainability. The location is the greater Dublin area in particular the edges and hinterland of Dublin.

Paris
Paris 10th district is open to Europe thanks to two train stations, Gare du Nord and Gare de l¹Est. A large-scale consultation will soon take place on the new development of this area. This true European territory is a popular place where business men in a hurry and the socially excluded meet. This cohabitation, tolerated so far, will certainly disappear with the reshuffle of spaces around the stations, which also constitute the beginning of large, Haussmann-style avenues. The aim is to reorganize car and pedestrian circulation, station squares, the start of Magenta and Strasbourg boulevards, to transform bus stations, to create a green area next to the Gare de l’Est. In short, this plan will induce a true revolution for the district in the coming years, including controversies. The applicant will enter the battlefield alongside experts, users, decision-makers, urban planners and architects, and will take part to public debates. This residence proposes an immersion within the core of a district, reflecting on real community needs. The applicant will not deal with all issues, but will define his/her own field of action.
